What’s life without adversity, right? There are times in our lives when our plan may not be going the way we expected. During adversity, it’s important to realign your life and figure out how to stay positive and move forward. Life includes many challenges; it’s how you rise to overcome those challenges with strength and positivity. What’s your secret to staying positive during difficult times? We know it can be hard to prioritize ourselves when we’re taking care of others or occupied with other tasks. How you respond to adversity is truly what defines you as a person. When you discover ways to navigate difficult situations, you encounter internal growth as well as learning to value and control your own happiness. Give yourself a positivity boost by finding your own passion and putting yourself first. Take some time to do what makes you happy. What do you do to overcome difficult situations?


One of the simplest ways to build a more positive outlook on a negative situation is to ask yourself these questions: 

  • What’s one thing that is positive about this situation?
  • Where’s the opportunity within this situation?
  • What’s in my control? 
  • What can I learn from this? 

Don’t think about how the situation can worsen, think about how it can get better!


Who you spend your time with and where you spend your time can have a significant impact on how you handle certain situations. It’s important to surround yourself with people who share your values and promote positivity. Environment has a significant impact on your attitude and the energy you attract. What components make up your positive environment? Some can include: 

  • Being outdoors
  • Your workspace
  • Surrounded by family and friends 
  • Your rhythms and rituals
  • Your attitude inside and outside of work
  • Out shopping 
  • At the spa

We all have our own ideas of a positive environment, but wherever you feel is a positive and cultivating environment is where you should go to most in the midst of adversity. Be thankful for all the positive people you have in your life. 


Mornings set the tone for our day. Adding yoga or meditation into your morning routine is a great way to begin your day and can help you be more mindful of what your day holds. Have a mindful check-in!  What emotions are you feeling? Is your mind calm or busy? What is on your mind? These are effective questions to ask yourself when doing a mindful check-in.
