Member Spotlight: Melanie Boykin

Melanie Boykin is Business Continuity/ Disaster Recovery Coordinator at Commerce Bank.  She has been with Commerce Bank for 29 years and is greatly involved in the Kansas City community.  Melanie’s passions include her family and friends, reading, traveling the world, leadership and empowerment. She co-chairs Commerce Bank’s Women’s Resource Group and the Diversity and Inclusion Council for the Kansas City chapter. Recently, Melanie increased her involvement with Central Exchange through her 2020-2021 appointment to the CX Nominating Committee. Meet Melanie.

HER PATH TO CX:

Melanie first became involved at Central Exchange through Commerce Bank’s corporate partnership with Central Exchange. At first, she attended numerous Commerce-sponsored events. After making meaningful connections, she eventually pursued an individual membership with Central Exchange.

Melanie benefits personally and professionally from CX programming. To be able to talk up close and personal with speakers and members at programs is really cool,” Melanie says. She credits the increase in her network to her CX membership.

FAVORITE CENTRAL EXCHANGE EVENT:

Courageous Conversations has been one of the most valuable programs that Melanie has attended thus far. She appreciates the informality of the program structure and important discussions around diversity, equity, and inclusion. “Everyone should participate in this type of program at some point. It’s extremely inspiring and puts things in perspective.”

VALUABLE CONNECTIONS:

Melanie enjoys meeting new faces and also getting to know Team CX. Former CEO Courtney Thomas inspired Melanie to become an impactful leader. Every time Courtney spoke, Melanie was always eager to listen. She admired Courtney’s work ethic, determination, and drive to make a difference in the world as a leader. Central Exchange involvement has been Melanie’s outlet to new networks, friendships, and connections.

FINAL WORD:

If she could sum up her time at CX in one word, it would be inspirational. “To me, Central Exchange means a lot as a female leader,” Melanie said.

Thank you, Melanie, for being a valuable member at Central Exchange. Continue to make your magic! Join together with women like Melanie and achieve your full potential. You’re welcome here! Register for one of our many upcoming programs.
