Only 12% of Americans have optimal metabolic health which means the other 88% of us are suffering from some type of metabolic dysfunction. This may present itself as stubborn weight gain, belly fat, brain fog, disordered sleep, and increased risk for diabetes, heart disease, autoimmunity, Alzheimer’s and more.
The good news is you have the power to interrupt and reverse metabolic dysfunction via nutrition
and lifestyle intervention, even if you’ve been unsuccessful in the past.
This four-part series will help you:
- Understand that body function is a series of biochemical processes independent of will power, commitment, or failure.
- Utilize nutrition as a powerful ally to move beyond a toxic “diet” mindset for greater health, empowerment, and healing.
- Discover and support your body’s unique nutritional and physiological needs to optimize your innate potential for health and healing.
- Learn to think functionally about our health- to focus on the root cause of our symptoms and not just the symptoms themselves.

BLOOD SUGAR BASICS:
THE ROLES OF GLUCOSE, INSULIN, LEPTIN AND GHRELIN
Thurs Jan 13 | 12 – 1 PM CDT
Virtual via Zoom
Half of all American adults are diabetic or are insulin resistant (pre-diabetic) with increased risk of developing type 2 diabetes in the next five years. Fortunately, we don’t need to wait until we develop diabetes and/or obesity to do something to manage our blood sugar and insulin levels. Blood sugar balance is at the center of metabolic health.
Understanding the role of our hormone’s glucose, insulin, leptin, and ghrelin, helps us make informed choices about the quality and quantity of the foods we eat.

WIRED AND TIRED:
THE STRESS, SLEEP, AND CORTISOL CONNECTION
Thurs Feb 10 | 12 – 1 PM CDT
Virtual via Zoom
We need sleep to rest and renew. In fact, our survival depends on our ability to sleep. Accumulating evidence also suggests that even short-term, partial sleep deprivation could pave the way for weight gain and other negative metabolic consequences.
We’ll explore how our food selection, meal timing, circadian rhythms, and stress impact our cortisol and strategies to help manage our levels for improved sleep, less stress, better sleep, focus, and energy.
