TIPS FOR A SUCCESSFUL VOLUNTEER DAY AT BIZ TOWN
The day before you volunteer, if you haven’t already, watch your storefront video and read the corresponding materials so you know what to expect.
Check your reminder email sent the day before your scheduled date for your arrival time and any announcements.
Wear comfortable clothes and shoes, as you will be on your feet for the majority of the time.
Bring snacks and beverages for the day. Water bottles are available at no charge.
Park in the back of the building (if possible) so you can easily go straight into Biz Town. (Click on the map to enlarge)
We will have a brief volunteer meeting upon arrival to go over training materials again and to answer any questions. You will also have time to get acclimated with your storefront before students arrive.
You will receive (1) 15-minute break throughout the day.
Have a fun icebreaker ready to help get to know the students in the storefront. We’ll have some available for you too if you need ideas!
Plan on staying around for 30-minutes after the students leave for lunch, a brief debrief, and a chance to take the volunteer survey. If you have any dietary restrictions, please contact Sara Swearingen.
