The office of the Attorney General provides legal services to other state agencies and boards, promotes open and accountable government, protects consumers from fraud, assists crime victims and defends the state in civil proceedings. Steve Six was appointed attorney general – the state’s chief law enforcement officer - in 2008 by then Governor Kathleen Sebelius. Since that time he has worked to restore public confidence in the office after the scandal of his predecessor. Six is running for re-election in November as a Democrat.
